Our general rule for student behavior is RESPECT! Respect the rights of other students and staff members using the library while taking care to use books, computers, and other materials in an appropriate manner.

Students may come to the library before and after school or during break and lunch. Any time a student comes to the library during regularly scheduled class time, he or she must show a written pass or be part of a class, which had scheduled time in the library. Students may use the library during unassigned periods, but their behavior must not be disruptive to library staff or other students. Students may be denied access to the library during lunch if there is more than one class scheduled to use the facility during that time or there are other school-related scheduled activities.

Tutoring is offered by NHS and CSF Monday through Friday from 7:00 to 7:45 AM and Monday through Thursday after school, 3:00 to 4:00PM.

Books may be checked out with a student ID card. NO BOOKS WILL BE CHECKED OUT WITHOUT AN I.D. CARD!! No more than three books on a single subject may be checked out at one time. There is a ten book limit.  Books are checked out for three weeks and may be renewed for three additional weeks. No periodical material (magazines) may be checked out of the library. Some encyclopedias may be checked out overnight.

Overdue notices are sent to students through language arts classes. Do not ignore overdue notices. If you receive one, please come to the library right away to return or renew the book listed on the notice. There are no fines for overdue materials, but your prompt return of materials is expected! When you have overdue books, you are denied the right to check out other materials. Each month indebtedness notices are sent home and to the finance clerk. The school finance clerk will not sell tickets for EHS activities if there is an outstanding library debt. Further, a notice will appear on the grade report sent home to your family. All debts must be cleared by the end of each school year. Failure to do so will mean you may not pick up your
schedule for the following year.

The photocopier in the library is available to make copies for students. Copies are 15 cents for single sided copies and 25 cents for double sided copies. Copies will be done for you by student library aides, library clerks, or the librarian. Please ask for help at the check out counter. STUDENTS MAY NOT USE THE PHOTOCOPIER ON THEIR OWN.

Studying, appropriate computer use, and browsing through magazines, newspapers, and books are acceptable behavior. The library is available for students who wish a quiet place to study. Please respect this choice during morning, lunch, break times, and after school.
Boisterous or rowdy conduct, including (but not limited to) running, intentionally dropping books, loud conversations, talking to students beyond the table where you are seated, leaving trash, moving chairs to another table, etc. is not acceptable. There is no card playing allowed in the library. Such actions will result in your immediate removal, or in extreme cases may lead to disciplinary action such as hours or suspension.

No Food or Drink in the Library. No card or game Playing.

Computer Usage

  • DO NOT LOG INTO A COMPUTER WITHOUT CHECKING WITH THE LIBRARIAN OR LIBRARY CLERK and sign in at the front counter.
