show several things:

• Research: you should do some research to strengthen
the discussion and your understanding of the issue.
Research could include historical examples of similar
cases, court cases, etc.
Scenario1—Gun Control
In light of increasing gun violence, the U.S. congress
is once again considering gun control legislation. With
strengthed support, legislators are aiming to ban several
weapons. In addition, Congress hopes to pass the following
measures: Each person purchasing any gun will have to
undergo a thorough background chack. This check will
take about one month to complete. It will be illegal
for any minor to carry/own a gun, except for the purpose
of hunting.
Scenario 2—Freedom of Assembly
The Aryan nation, a neo-Nazi group centralized in Horther
Daho, is planning to hold a rally/march in the small
town of Sandpoint, Idaho. The march, coincedentally
or not, is being held the first week of Hanukkah. The
mayor, a Jewish Citizen, has condemned the group, arguing
that the march is simply to stir up hatred. Sandpoint
has a large Jewish constituency. The marchers are busing
in; no member of the Aryan nation live there. Under
pressure from the community and Jewish leaders, the
mayor has sworn to dany thier request for a parade permit.
Even though the march is scheduled on a Jewish holiday,
the marchers argue that they have the right to march.
