GENERAL
•Congratulations to Vivace Show Choir on their 1st place win at the Southern California Vocal Association Show Choir Competition on Saturday. What a great way to end your competition season. Way to go Aztecs!
•Teen Homelessness Drive-Hey Esperanza - ASB wants your pants! EHS will be hosting a teen homelessness drive from May 5-16. Donate your used or new pants and tennis shoes to a teenage homeless shelter. They are being collected in the quad before and during school. Thanks for your support.
•This year's Prom - A Party at the Strip, is Saturday, May 17th at V20 in Long Beach. You don't want to miss out. Prom tickets are sold as single tickets only. Tickets are on sale this week only for $65 per person with your ASB card or $75 per person with out an ASB card. You must bring your student ID card and signed green dance agreement from in order to buy your tickets.
•Don't miss out on Pal's Prom Awareness; Next week is PAL's Pre-prom Alcohol Awareness Week. Each of the days are the following- Monday: Mocktails, Tuesday: scooter races with drunken goggles, Wednesday: Hackey Sack tournament, Thursday: water balloon toss at the teachers with drunken goggles, and Friday: BYOB (banana)...bring your own banana for a free banana split!
HERE'S A CHANCE FOR YOU TO GET INVOLVED:
•Do you love to dance? Do you like to perform and travel? Do you hate after school rehearsals? Come and audition for the Esperanza Aztec Dance Company. Pick up a try-out packet from Mrs. Gehringer in the Dance Studio.
•Next Monday-The Aztec Football Team starts Spring Football. The Aztecs have won 3 Sunset League Championships in a row and averaged 10 wins a season for four straight years. Anyone who is not presently in Football and wants to TRY-OUT should come by room 226 and see Coach Pendleton, before school @ 7:30am.
•BOYS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS FOR 2008-09 SEASON...Tryouts for the boy's basketball team are coming Monday, May 12th at 3:30pm and Wednesday, May 14th at 3:30pm in the EHS gym. You must be cleared through Mrs. Hayashi in the finance office. Please stop by her office immediately to pick up a packet and get yourself cleared! You will NOT be able to tryout without being cleared. The process takes a few days, so start today! These tryouts are for the upcoming 2008-09 season. If you have any further questions, please see Coach Pietsch in room 256.
CAREER CENTER
• Greg Lombardo, from West Point Academy and EHS alum will be here at break in the quad, May 20, interested students are encouraged to stop by his table to speak with him.
•Students interested in a career in nursing, court reporting, etc. a rep from South Coast College will be here May 15th. Sign up in the Career Center.

COMMUNITY SERVICE:
•Mabel Paine Elementary School needs volunteers for their carnival on Friday, May 16th. Dinner will be provided for all workers. Pick up a flyer for more information.
•The PYLUSD Summer School Office is looking for volunteers to help at various elementary, middle, and high school sites this summer. Interested participants need to add their name to the sign-up sheet on the Community Service Bulletin Board.
